Which social platform actually deserves your time?

By Hannah, Social Media Lead at DigiVino · Updated June 29, 2026 · 4 min read

The platform worth your time is the one where your specific buyers actually hang out — not the one with the loudest hype. One channel done well beats five done badly, every time.

Why “be everywhere” is a trap

Every year a new platform appears or an old one changes its rules, and a chorus of gurus insists your business must be on it. Follow all of them and you're running a TikTok, an Instagram, a Facebook page, a LinkedIn profile, a YouTube channel, and more — spread so thin that every profile looks like a ghost town. For an independent owner, that's a fast track to burnout. Stop treating social like a checklist and start treating it like choosing where to set up shop.

Pick by two questions

Almost everything is settled by asking where are my buyers and what can I actually sustain. A platform you can feed consistently with content you can really make beats a trendy one you'll abandon in a month. A quick fit guide:

What's actually working now

Two honest shifts to plan around. First, short vertical video is where discovery happens — it's how new people find brands today, and it rewards being useful or human over being polished. Second, the old habit of posting flat single photos barely registers anymore; multi-photo carousels and short reels earn far more attention because they invite people to stop, swipe, and save. If you're still posting one static image out of habit, that's the first thing to change.

The one rule that beats the rest

Consistency. A modest, steady presence on one platform builds more trust — with customers and with the AI tools now reading social signals — than a flashy launch you can't keep up. And “doing social” is no longer a quick phone snap and a caption; it's a small production habit. If your Sunday nights are lost to editing video or wondering why a post got no reach, that's the moment to hand it to someone who runs the system for you.

Not sure where to focus your social?
