Is your brand working? A 3-step self-check
You don't need a six-week audit to know if your brand is pulling its weight. Three honest questions will tell you most of what you need — and where the quiet leaks are.
Step 1 — Is it clear?
Show your homepage to someone outside your business for five seconds. Can they say what you offer, who it's for, and why it's different? If they hesitate, the problem isn't their attention — it's clarity. A brand that has to be explained is a brand that's losing people before the pitch.
Step 2 — Is it consistent?
Line up your website, your social, your printed materials, and your signage. Do they look and sound like the same company? Mismatched colors, voice, and quality make you feel smaller and less trustworthy. Consistency is free, and it's one of the fastest credibility upgrades you can make.
Step 3 — Is it distinct?
Could a competitor swap their name onto your website and have it still make sense? If yes, you're blending in. Distinct doesn't mean loud — it means owning a clear position: who you're for, what you stand for, what you do differently. That's what makes you the obvious choice instead of a coin-flip.
What your score tells you
Clear, consistent, and distinct on all three? Your brand is an asset — protect it. Wobbling on one or two? That's where you're leaving money on the table, and usually the cheapest, fastest thing to fix before you spend on ads or SEO.
