I didn’t think a small wine producer like me would be attacked by malware and hacking. If I had protected my website earlier, it would have saved so much time and money. Now I use DigiVino’s annual protection plan and I wouldn’t go back.
I can’t believe it has been 10 years! My goodness.
You have been a wonderful asset to the Keenan cause and I thank you very much!
Understanding Website Maintenance & Security
When a client’s site goes down after an automated software update, a change with the WordPress platform, or a malware attack – these are some of the questions they ask us. Unfortunately, these occurrences are not rare in the World Wide Web. That’s why we offer solutions to avoid this in the future:
WHY DID MY SITE GO DOWN?
This may have happened because your website contains custom coding, which needs to be manually preserved during WordPress updates. Unfortunately, this is one of the realities of enjoying a unique site, while using the world’s most popular content management system, WordPress.
WHY DOES WORDPRESS ADMINISTER UPDATES?
With increasing concerns for website security, WordPress tries to stay one step ahead of hackers and malware by issuing security updates. In addition, WordPress periodically adds enhancements and new functionality. For all of these reasons, WordPress issues periodic updates, some of which are forced via automation, rather than optional.
IS THERE A WAY TO AVOID AN INTERRUPTION OF SERVICE IN THE FUTURE?
Interruptions in service can be minimized by maintaining your website, keeping not only WordPress up to date, but also maintaining current all of the software and plugins your site employs. We have website maintenance packages to make sure your site is updated regularly while maintaining your custom code. We also can help you get a malware protection scanner in place if you have a critically important site to protect. Uptime scanning is also important, as it notifies you (or us!) in the unfortunate event of your site going offline so that we can help you get it back up and running ASAP.
DO YOU HAVE A WEBSITE MAINTENANCE PACKAGE FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES AND WEBSITE ENHANCEMENTS?
Because we know how important it is to keep your website maintained with the latest software updates, as well as any edits or enhancements you desire, DigiVino and GOsustainably offer website maintenance packages. The smallest, which we believe would be perfect for you, is $99/month and includes bi-annual website backups, monthly software updates, and up to 10 hours/year of edits and website enhancements per your request. This package also includes daily uptime and malware scanning and up to 10 additional hours per year of malware cleanup, should you ever need it.
IT SEEMS CHEAPER TO GET MY OWN WEBSITE HOSTING, FIREWALL, UPTIME SCANNER, MALWARE SWEEPS, HACKING FIXES, SOFTWARE UPDATES, AND DO MY OWN BACKUPS
If you have a site that you highly depend on daily, we strongly suggest doing all of these things at a minimum to keep it running smoothly. After all, you wouldn’t drive your car every day without ever giving it a tune-up, would you? If you decide to find, install and maintain these services on your own, we applaud you. That said, many of these services and products require technical setup and upkeep, which we can help you with upon request, at our standard rate of $135/hour for basic service and $165/hour for advanced engineering.
I WOULD LIKE MORE FREQUENT WEBSITE BACKUPS, ON-GOING EDITS, AND UPDATES TO MY SITE, and/or OTHER SERVICES
We are happy to provide additional website development and support services as you desire. We provide maintenance hours in 5, 10, and 25-hour retainers, which are purchased in advance and replenished when low. 25-hour retainers are sold at the reduced rate of $100/hour. Otherwise, our standard rates apply. In either case, we track time spent and deliver updated hours reports when it is time to replenish hours.
